The Museum Tour

So mysterious, so rich in culture and so much history. The Queen Charlotte Islands have recently been renamed Haida Gwaii. Learn more of the islands through carvings, pictures and an informative tour at the Kaay Centre, also known as the Haida Heritage Centre. The Centre was built to resemble the traditional Haida longhouse. There are six totem poles that were erected in 2001 which represent the southern Haida Villages of Skidegate, Chaatl, Cumshewa, Skedans, Skug Gwaii and Tanu. There is always something going on at the centre, here you can watch artists at work in the Carving Shed. Enjoy Haida dance performances and of course don’t miss our local museum. Grey Whales can also be seen between April- June in front of the Kaay centre at Second Beach.

After the museum tour enjoy a scenic drive along the coast, view local attractions and relax with a hot lunch and beach fire at Jungle Beach.
